MY WORK

Do you see the world?
Oh, it must be such a view
When everything has a history,
But you look at it like it’s new.

I’ve proudly contributed to and overseen writing projects for the world’s best brands.

Branding 1

THESIS: Rebranding the Portland agency.

Worked with Thesis’s executive team to understand their vision for the agency’s future. Led a team of Creatives to realize and glorify it, including brand architecture (tagline, mission, vision, values), visual identity, brand book, net-new website, and internal / external launch assets.

Contribution: Writer, Co-Creative Director

Branding 2

Know Me Now: Putting a name, face, and action to a social movement.

Coined the name, tagline, brand pillars, and brand identity for this critical effort to reduce recidivism.

Contribution: Writer, Writing Director, Co-Creative Director

Branding 3

GHOST WORKS: Giving a name and identity to an invisible force.

Reimagined the brand identity for an industrial design consultancy, helping them sound less like a stuffy architecture firm and more like the motley crew of motorcycle-riding misfits they proudly were.

Contribution: Brand Strategist, Creative Director

Produced a brand film that strategically blurred the lines between the founder’s side passion and core business offering. This film was circulated among several industry-leading media outlets.

Contribution: Producer, Creative Director, Music Composer

Manifesto 1

Lead From Home: Firming the ground beneath uncertain feet.

Penned a leadership manifesto to acknowledge the onset of a global pandemic and provide employees with heartful direction on where their energy could be best placed.

Contribution: Writer, Narrator, Creative Director

Manifesto 2

A Mighty Moment: Calling for permanent — not performative — action.

Crafted a leadership manifesto, urging our employees and social community to commit to forever action during a most transformative cultural time.

Contribution: Writer, Creative Director

Web Content

Case Studies & PR: Telling and selling CORPORATE stories.

Identified company stories worth shining a light on. Wrote or managing-edited every Thesis case study, thought leadership article, and press release (before October 2024), collaborated with designers and developers to give each piece a life of its own, authored them to the agency’s website, and distributed them to news outlets as appropriate.

Digital Experience 1

Be More Human: Dealing comfort and joy when the cards were stacked against us.

Digital Experience 2

We Made It: Telling the story of 2020 — the “w”s and the “WTF”s.

Voice & Tone

Jack Link’s: Defining the human voice behind the Sasquatch.

Contribution: Writer, Deck Designer

Children’s book

There’s Certainly a Santa: Equipping parents to navigate life’s monumental milestone.

Partnered with my sister to bring her seedling idea to fruition. Coined the hook, crafted the grand narrative, and worked with an illustrator to develop the visual style, characters, and storyboard panels.

Spec Work

Exploring how my words can make big statements for big brands.

The work below is speculative and created solely to showcase my creative capabilities. The featured brands didn’t hire me to produce this content. The thoughts and words are my own; however, I don’t claim ownership of any logos, trademarks, or images used.

Contribution: Writer (and FPO Designer)

Campy Content

Fun with [Internal] Comms: Selling out to sell in company updates.

One line at a time ⤵

  • Don’t whisper softly the things you want loudly to be.

    — Whistle Stop

  • Nothing hurts more than a one-man war.

    — Head & Heart

  • The arsonist in you is just a cold heart trying to get warm.

    — The Arsonist

  • All we are is the history of our hearts.

    — Stars & Scars

  • When those shadows start to bite and reduce us down to black and white, let the music chase away those dreadful grays — and let us pray some color stays.

    — True Royal Blue

  • I’m in love with the stars because I envy how they hang as constant constellations in an ever-changing space.

    — Welcome the Change

  • A middle daughter’s light is only softly beaming — like the light between the floor and the door.

    — Middle Daughter

  • What might have been can yet still be.

    — Best-Laid Plans

  • A battle hymn for these days: Stock up on Bravery and Grace.

    — The Clementine Battle Hymn

  • If it’s this or the cage of a city man’s wage, then I guess we’ll get some use from these wings.

    — The Nest

  • I’m a fine line getting bolder every day.

    — Feeling the Sun

  • Marie is the toughest. She’s the hammer and the steel. She’s the hunt. She’s the gather. She’s the grease on the wheel.

    — Tiny Caravan

  • If we’re not growing, we’re staying the same.

    — We Grow

  • Look there, see that gleam? It’s the sun — and your eyes the beam.

    — Cellophane

  • The world, as it spins, creates such a wind that nothing is safe from the ride.

    — Leaves Blow By

  • Bring back the days when our hearts were bold. ’Cause now it seems, these days, we are getting old.

    — Getting Old

  • Why build a bridge if you’re just going to burn it down?

    — The Arsonist

  • Never did the distance daunt a ramblin’ man.

    — The Road

  • The devil don’t go by one name.

    — Screwtape

  • The world is a perfect sphere, and all things beautiful are gathered here.

    — Cellophane

  • It’s the loudest sound: When the heart knows what it wants and makes it known.

    — Leave Oregon

  • Nothing fills you up like the taste of love.

    — Do You See the World?

  • Time has its way of breaking its promises made.

    — Evermore

  • Every once in a while, it spits a spark. All at once, you can see in the dark. What was gray is now vivid and bright (now that it’s bathed in a remarkable light).

    — Good Comet

  • It comes and goes like springtime: Growing wild until the harvest strips it down.

    — Middle Daughter

  • Stick out your neck; let it be the bridge to the place where the Head and Heart agree.

    — Head & Heart

  • The change is gonna happen real slow, but not a day goes by we don’t grow.

    — We Grow

  • Be like a wave; leave impressions on the sand.

    — Whistle Stop

  • The words have changed, and all their meanings have faded away. But when I say, “I love you,” I mean it the same way as it was made.

    — Lover Things

  • Be it dimes or dollars made, the habit of action will pay and pay and pay.

    — Rich Man

  • Where the clearest sunny days can quickly turn to rain, but we don’t mind because the sweetest smells remain.

    — Wyoming

  • The road to hell is not a cliff — it’s a slow, damned, steady decline.

    — Screwtape

Feeling it?

If my words spoke to you, reach out.
We’ll make ’em work for you, too.
